In a day, Mark earns Gh¢ 8.25 per hour working for 8 hours. He also earns overtime pay, which is 1 1/2 times his regular rate of Gh¢ 8.25 for 4 hours. How much pay does he earn altogether in a day?
Triangle QPR below is a right-angled triangle.
Find (i) |PQ| (ii) Tan θ
Find the truth set of 6 ≥ 2 - 3x and represent your result on the number line.
Find the area of a semi-circle whose radius is 7cm. [Take π = 22/7]
The numbers of pupils in a primary school is given in the table below.
CLASS: One, Two, Three, Four, Five
NUMBER OF PUPILS: 35, 45, 24, 33, 23
(i) Draw a pie chart for the data
(ii) What fraction of the pupils are in primary two?
(iii) Calculate the percentage of pupils in primary three, four and five.

Answer

Mark's Earnings: Regular earnings for 8 hours = 8.25 * 8 = Gh¢ 66. Overtime earnings for 4 hours = 8.25 * 1.5 * 4 = Gh¢ 49.5. Total earnings = 66 + 49.5 = Gh¢ 115.5.

Triangle QPR: (i) |PQ| = √(8² - 6²) = √(64 - 36) = √28 = 2√7 cm. (ii) Tan θ = Opposite/Adjacent = 6/√28 = 3/√7.

Truth Set: 6 ≥ 2 - 3x implies 4 ≥ -3x, so x ≥ -4/3. On the number line, shade the region from -4/3 to positive infinity.

Area of Semi-circle: Area = (1/2) * π * r² = (1/2) * (22/7) * 7² = 77 cm².

Pie Chart: Draw a pie chart with segments proportional to the number of pupils in each class.

Fraction of Pupils in Primary Two: Fraction = 45 / (35 + 45 + 24 + 33 + 23) = 45/160 = 9/32.

Percentage of Pupils in Primary Three, Four, and Five: Total pupils in three, four, and five = 24 + 33 + 23 = 80. Percentage = (80/160) * 100% = 50%.
