13. A box of mass m is released from rest and accelerates down a ramp that is at an angle θ to the horizontal, as shown. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the box and the ramp is μ. As the box is sliding down the ramp, how are the magnitudes of the horizontal and vertical components of the box's velocity changing, if at all?

Answer

Answer: The horizontal component of the box's velocity is increasing because the box is accelerating down the ramp due to gravity, overcoming friction. The vertical component of the box's velocity is also increasing as the box moves downward along the slope.
