Answer

  1. In Inventor, select File > Open, browse to your Domain 1 Student folder, and open 1.1.3 (Navigation)-Start.ipt.

  2. These tools are on the Navigation Bar, normally along the right side of the graphics window. They are also available on the View tab in the Navigate panel.

  3. Free Orbit, Constrained Orbit, and Continuous Orbit.

  4. The Look At tool rotates the view so you look perpendicular (normal) to a selected face or plane.

  5. Pan shifts the view horizontally or vertically without changing its orientation or magnification.

  6. Zoom, Zoom All, Zoom Window, and Zoom Selected.

  7. Activate each orbit mode and drag to rotate the view. Try Zoom to change magnification, Zoom All to fit everything, Zoom Window to enlarge a boxed region, and Zoom Selected to focus on a selection. Use Pan to shift the view, then use Look At and select a planar face to view it straight on.

  8. The ViewCube shows the current view orientation and lets you switch quickly between standard and angled views.

  9. Click a face, edge, or corner of the ViewCube to change the view, or drag the cube to rotate it.

  10. Orient the model as desired, right-click the ViewCube, and select Set Current View as Home > Fit to View.

  11. Orient the model as desired, right-click the ViewCube, and select Set Current View as > Top or Front.
